From 1880-the 1930’s, America saw amazing changes and advancements as well as its share of problems and detrimental ideas.  Our goal for you is to see these ideas and determine the impact these ideas had on our nation.  Some of the ideas will benefit us in our everyday lives and others simply fizzled out and disappeared.  These ideas can be technological, scientific, medical, athletic, political,--you name it, you can investigate it.  We are going to be asking you to show us your knowledge of this topic or great American idea, analyze it’s intended purpose, analyze the reaction to that idea, and then analyze the long-term effects of that idea in American culture.

Learning Goals:
Part 1:
  • Analyze primary documents for meaning and purpose.
  • Analyze patterns in multiple documents.
  • Generate conclusions using effective evidence.
  • Speaks formally and effectively

Part 2:
  • Identify and Define Point of View techniques
  • Analyze how Point of View techniques show theme
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Point of View techniques to show theme.
  • Identify and Define Modernism
  • Analyze the technique’s of Modernism show theme
  • Evaluate current/contemporary/later adaptations of modernist texts portrayal of theme
  • Apply effective sequencing techniques in writing complex, argumentative texts
